History of Sponsoring Organizations
Connecticut Valley Regional Ballet Company, Inc. The Connecticut Valley Regional Ballet Company, Inc. (C.V.R.B.), incorporated in 1966, performed throughout New England, giving over 250 performances. In 1977, the C.V.R.B. formed the Storybook Theater Division that performed several original musical theatre plays. The company is based in Wethersfield, Connecticut. In the mid 1980's, the C.V.R.B. changed its focus from performances to educational dance projects. The company funds a dance library in Ellington, Connecticut, funds dance prizes, created a dance video and DVD library, and has produced documentaries on the lives of leading people in the field of dance. The Ethel Walker School, founded in 1911, is an independent college preparatory boarding and day school for girls in grades 6-12. Located in Simsbury, Connecticut, the school was founded by Ethel Walker who believed that education was an adventure characterized by risk, discovery and excitement. Since the school began, art, dance, drama, music, theatre, and other creative activities have been an important aspect of the total educational experience.
